This recipe makes use of the fresh sweetness of golden corn—whether you want it creamed or whole kernel—with the simple addition of sugar to taste and some condensed milk for a silky texture and a chilly spoonful to sip on a hot summer day. The addition of some corn-based cereal—or any cereal you fancy, really—would not be amiss, as the sweetness and crunch will add a delightful contrast to each mouthful of sweetened shaved ice, milk and corn. The best part about this favorite recipe is that all you have to do is combine the ingredients, so it’s no hassle to make at all!
- 1-2 cups shaved ice
- 1tbsp sugar or any sweetener that you prefer.
- 1 tbsp corn cereal for toppings (optional)
- 1/2 cup cream corn, you may use whole kernel corn if you prefer
- 1/2 cup condensed or evaporated milk
- Put creamed corn into a halo halo / parfait glass.
- Top glass with shaved ice.
- Pour milk over ice.
- Top with corn flakes.
- Stir well and add sweetener until desired sweetness is reached.
